Johnny Cash in Delaware

The Johnny Cash Experience will be performing this Sunday, June 26th @ 6:30pm
in the beautiful Bellevue State Park in Wilmington, DE.

David Stone Ryan IS the man in black in this tribute ensemble of exceptional performers.  I was lucky enough to catch them years ago @ The Lighthouse in Dewey Beach, Delaware.  This is not to be missed, these guys are TIGHT!

Sentimental in the Borough

The Next Day Update: 06/23/11

Last night was a sentimental one in the borough of West Chester.  John Grecia was playing a night heavy on the Springsteen in celebration of the late Clarence Clemons at Pietro's Prime on Market.  Down the street, a large 'Jackass' entourage, dressed in black, were mourning Ryan Dunn from Side Bar to Barnaby's with a caravan of news vans close at hand.

Sentimental, yes.  Quiet, no.  The Piano "sounded like a carnival", The Phils played on the TV's and Erica, my favorite bartender for years, poured delicious concoctions.  The masterpiece of the night?  An orange cream-cicle martini to die for! Kudos! 

I'm sending out much love and good thoughts to those who have lost their loved ones.

The Sermon! is having their CD Release Party @ The Kennett Flash in Kennett Square, a great live music listening venue!  Pick up a copy of their new, self-titled full-length CD and hear their classic soul-funk-jazz music live from 7pm to 10pm tonight. 

Also, tonight in Newtown Square, PA @ Burlap & Bean be sure to catch the cello-driven, Alfred James Band with special guest piano player, Asia Mei.  This is a great venue to enjoy live performances of carefully selected musicians and groups, especially since the recent addition of the new custom stage!  They roast their own beans and serve up delicious snacks at this sweet spot right on Route 252 / South Newtown Street Road.  Tickets are selling out, so reserve yours now.  Doors open @ 7:30pm.

However, if you'll be heading down the shore, be sure to catch good friends Debbi & Andrea of Girls Next Door @ 10pm @ The Princeton in Avalon, NJ on Saturday night, and again on Sunday @ 4pm @ Keenan's in Wildwood, NJ. These girls really know how to get a party started and rock the house all night long!

WaveRadio @ Side Bar Thursday Night

So I'm super psyched to see my new favorite band WaveRadio this Thursday night (TONIGHT) @ The Side Bar & Restaurant in West Chester, PA @ 8:30pm

I was fortunate enough to catch them @ Kelly's Logan House in Wilmington, DE which was a great experience from the drinks to the accoustics of the listening room upstairs.  I definitely need to hang out in Wilmington more!

WaveRadio, who has a new EP available, will be appearing with Spotted Atrocious and there's NO COVER CHARGE!

The Weekend Review 6.11.11

It was a wonderful wet n' wild time this weekend in West Chester, PA.

This weekend, it was this Blogger's Birthday as well as that of a good friend of mine, so friends and relations converged on the active music town for bar hopping and dancing to celebrate. 

The evening began at The Blarney Stone on West Chester Pike for an amazing happy hour.  They feature $3 Guinness, $3 Smirnoff Vodka drinks, $1 off every drink and $5 pub plates EVERY DAY from 5 to 7pm! Wow, that IS happy!

From here we grabbed a ride with friends into the borough to continue the party.  Parking in the garage we walked over to Pietro's Prime Steakhouse & Seafood on Market Street for the most amazing cocktails.  We were treated to live acoustic guitar courtesey of Brent Christopher, a talented local musician who's definitely worth a listen so please look for his upcoming shows.

Finally, we ran over (through the rain) to The Pale Horse, formerly Spence Cafe for the long awaited Ka-Pow! show.  This cover band is made up of some very skilled, local West Chester musicians looking to let loose with some rockin' covers and they succeed by getting the dance floor jumpin'!  I was so glad to finally get a chance to see them.  Unfortunately, the weather wasn't cooperating and the night was cut too short as most revelers headed home.  But no worries, the West Chester party will always continue!

Music & Martini's @ Pietro's in WC

Tonight John Grecia, Piano Man will be playing @ Pietro's Prime in West Chester

Wednesdays from 8:30pm to 12:30am

This is a great venue for a enjoying a delightful dinner, catching the game or sipping martini's at the bar.  This is especially true on Wednesday nights while Mr. Grecia is playing.

The Girls and I highly recommend The Prime Lime (better than Key Lime Pie), The Orange Crush (a citrus version of the classic French Martini) and the Berry Mojito (an exceptionally refreshing twist) from the drink menu.  The Chocolate  Pyramid is a perfectly sweet accompaniment to any steak or seafood entree.

WaveRadio @ Side Bar

A new favorite band of mine is WaveRadio.  I first saw them perform @ Collabajam on March 13th, 2011 @ The Note in West Chester courtesy of Tribe Sound Records. These guys are a talented and tight electric rock band with amazing originals.  I was fortunate enough to catch them @ Kelly's Logan House in Wilmington, DE which was a great experience from the drinks to the listening room upstairs.  I'll definitely need to hang out in that town more! WaveRadio has an EP out that is currently in my car's CD player, which considering the competition is really saying something.

I was very excited to hear that they will be playing at one of my new favorite bars The Side Bar & Restaurant in West Chester next Thursday, June 16th @ 8:30pm.  Put it on your calendars kids and get ready to be totally wowed! They will be appearing with Spotted Atrocious and there's NO COVER!

This venue is quickly becoming a favorite because of its three bars on two levels, its great vibe and drink selection.  Beer drinkers can enjoy unusual craft brews from brewers like Dogfish Head to Victory while cocktail lovers can appreciate the creative mixes like the Sparkle Martini.  The food menus look amazing, too; I can't wait to try the fare.

Saturday, June 4th

Another lovely night in West Chester.  I went to Nonna's Italian Restaurant with the girls where we expected to just start out a night of bar hopping.  However, the talents of John Grecia, Piano Man, kept us here well into the night. 

This venue is a sweet place for a date or reunion with friends.  From The Frank to The Key Lime to The Mango, the Martini list doesn't disappoint and neither do the bartenders nor the authentic Italian menu.  It is an affordable and delightful place to spend an evening! 

John Grecia provides musical entertainment at this spot on alternating Thursday nights and occasional Saturday nights. The Phils may have lost, but "You Can't Always Get What You Want", unless you make a request from this entertainer, who always delivers.  From The Beatles to U2 and Coldplay, Johnny Cash to Springsteen, Dylan to Van Morrison, Billy Joel to Sir Elton John, the music and fun seemed like it would never end!

Look to see John Grecia tickling the ivories @ Pietro's Prime in West Chester on Wednesday nights and @ The Great American Pub in Wayne on Friday nights with friend and guitarist Drew Nielands who's new CD is truely a pleasure to listen to. 

The John Grecia Band is set to release their original music album this summer!

Sunday, June 5th

It's been a West Chester kind of weekend!  I really should just relocate here, it would really save me some time and gas!  This weekend was the perfect time to be in the borough.  One can only daydream about the blissfulness of having an apartment on Gay Street with a balcony view of the lively bustle below both day and night!  West Chester Recreation has done it again with Super Sunday, an event even bigger and more fun than this past Swingin' Summer Thursday, if that's at all possible!  These summer events are a great opportunity to hear a variety of musical performances, people watch and sample local fare.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Junk Rock courtesy of Windish Music & Productions doing their wicked cool ninja drumming! This awesome group of percussionists put on a creative performance with their wild and wacky moves of funky and rockin' beats.  Even the kiddies were getting into it, dancin' and jumpin' in the street.

Please check them out  @ Turk's Head Music Festival on Sunday, July 17th in Everhart Park in West Chester, PA from 12 noon to 8pm.  It's sure to be a treat!

Piano Music & Italian in West Chester

Once Alberto's, this authentic, little Italian Restaurant serves up delicious cuisine and delectable martini's, as well as great live music when Mr. Grecia is on the keys.

So if you're bar hopping in the borough, please stop in between 8pm and midnight to enjoy.

That's probably where I'll be tonight with the girls!

New Stage @ Burlap & Bean

A favorite local live music venue of mine right in Newtown Square, PA.
It's a family friendly joint where you can BYOB and get cozy on the couches or sip java on the high top tables.

Burlap & Bean Coffee House recently re-opened their doors with the completion of a new stage built for live performances.

This Saturday, June 4th, is Jazz Night Featuring Equinox playing live from 8pm to 11pm.

$10 cover includes an open mix Martini Bar.
Bring your own liquor bottle and they'll mix them for you.
There's an impressive menu of Martini options.

Not to be missed! Maybe you'll catch me there!
